Sports Talk

The rain last night was sure nice. This month will go a long way to curbing the draught. If we could have another few wet weeks, we should go into summer in pretty good shape. Thank you, Lord!

Are the Stars going to do a repeat of last year and disappear in the 1st round of the playoffs? They keep crowing about how they are the better team in this series. Yet they find themselves down 3 games to 1. Not good.

And the Mavs. I know some of you who read this blog are sports fanatics, and I confess I am really not. I would love to see the Mavs win the championship this year. They have certainly had a great season. But what is the deal with them against Golden State? I know last night was a meaningless game in which they held out all their starters. However, they haven't been able to beat them this year. And it looks like they will be their 1st-round opponents in the playoffs.

My son, Josh, asked me to post this comment:

Let's put the Mavs/Warriors into perspective. The Mavs have lost to the Warriors 3 times this year--that is a fact. 1 of those losses came in the first 4 games of the season when anyone could have beaten them. They weren't ready for the season to start. Another loss came after winning 17 in a row--they were do to fall at any minute. Last night, well...I'm surprised they didn't lose by more.
I'm not worried about the first round. Our players are rested. Avery is a motivator. And they have no one to guard Dirk.

On another note, will people please vote Sanjaya-Sakajaweya off off American Idol!!!

I have no comments on the Mavs. Hadn't paid much attention. Sanjaya should have been gone weeks ago!

I was at the Stars game last night and while I know nothing about hockey, I really enjoy the fan interaction more than any other sport. I was outside the seating area on the phone and could still barely hear the person I was talking to when the Stars scored.

I'm just not sure the Mavs have what it takes to win. They are still missing an edge I think a championship team needs to have. That said, I've watched maybe 20 quarters of Mavs basketball this year so I'm not really in a position to speak out about the team.
