What a tragedy yesterday with the massacre at Virginia Tech. I wish I could say I was shocked -- and to some degree I was. But after Columbine, Paducah, Wedgewood Baptist, the MacDonald's in California, the Luby's in Killeen . . .
We know the guy who killed so many in Austin back in the 60s had a brain tumor. With these others, I find myself wondering what would cause someone to do such a terrible thing? I've heard all kinds of reasons offered -- but I just can't relate to it at all. Beverly often tells me rational people cannot relate to the thinking of irrational people. I do worry sometimes when I hear the "experts" on TV explaining what is going on in these murderers' minds. I think they need to be careful not to make victims out of them. Whatever has happened in these people's lives does not excuse the cowardliness of their actions.
This morning I am praying that the Lord will be really big in the lives of the victims' families and friends.

There are people calling for the university president and chief of police to be fired over this tragedy. I think they did the right thing. What could have happened had they dismissed classes and 26,000 students were walking through campus? Instead, the killer had to go indoors to find his victims.
Pointing fingers isn't going to bring these people back.

I agree. I was stunned when the media was questioning how they had responded while the tragedy was so fresh. Unbelievable.
I did see an ex-FBI expert on GMA this morning defending their actions.
The tragedy was bad enough but the talking heads criticizing the handling make it much, much worse. I wonder how well they would react in the same situation.
