Ho-Ho-Ho, Merry Christmas

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . ." That's right. At the Ross' house, we observe the 19 days of Christmas (Boy, does that ever make the song last forever.) "On the 19th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me . . ." But the kids are all here, and tonight we will do Christmas. Can't wait!

Wow! Did the baseball hall of fame voters send a message this week or what? Mark McGwire got less than 30% of the vote! I imagine Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Raphael Palmeiro heard the message loud and clear.

What are your thoughts? Do you think steroid use should keep them out? My opinion: Yes. In fact, any current records that have been set by those who have used steroids ought to be at least asterisked. It's not fair to Roger Maris, Hank Aaron and others who played the game fairly to be written out of the record books by those who cheated.

That's my opinion. And that and $4 will get you a small cup of coffee at Starbucks.

A very small cup.
Merry Christmas to your family. I know you will have fun tonight.
I have mixed emotions about the steroids issue. I think it's horrible for the game and for the people (players, fans, kids, etc.) but the fact is don't know who all is cheating or has cheated. Did the pitchers McGwire was batting against use steriods? If so, then what difference does it make? We don't know that McGwire used anything other than andro. I'm with you. I don't like it one bit but as I've said before, fans vote with their dollars and as long as fans keep giving them the dollars, they will keep doing whatever it takes to win.
I'm glad McGwire didn't get in this round but I think he'll eventually get there.

Rick,

You are so right about steroids keeping players out of the hall and I agree that their names should be removed from the record books. These men cheated, that is the bottom line. All these people who defend them by saying that they were not illegal to use by the baseball rule book are crazy. The U.S. government made steroids illegal years ago and that law overrides any law the MLB puts into effect. I saw a sign during the baseball season that said, "Ruth did it on beer and hot dogs, Aaron did it with class, and Bonds did it with drugs!" Personally all of their records should be removed from the books and names removed from the HOF ballots. They should never be considered! By the way $4 will be you the largest Carmel Machiato Starbucks has!
