Daylight Savings Time

It seems like we just fell back and it's already time to spring forward again. Personally, I like daylight savings time. I like the fact that I can go play golf after work, or mow the yard. Also, I like it staying darker a little longer in the morning. I know this is an inconvenience to some, especially as we move closer to winter.

I'm not sure why they are going to do it, but next year we will begin daylight savings time in the middle of March and it will go through November. They claim that it saves on energy. Wow! it will be dark until 8 AM!

Anyway, don't forget to change your clocks tomorrow night. And if you are bothered by losing an hours sleep, just go to bed an hour earlier.

And I'd like to hear: are you pro- or anti- daylight savings time?

I'm not for it. I think the order created in the beginning is just fine.

Well I don't like getting up when it is dark outside, but I like the sun later in the afternoon . But I really don't think it matters one way or another . 24 hrs is 24hrs right ?

I like daylight savings time, myself, except for the first few days as my body is getting use to losing that hour of sleep.

As far as what Jeff said, what time did the sun rise in the beginning?:)

I'm a little of both kind-of-girl. I like the sun early in the morning and I like the sun later at night. I guess I just like the light! OOOHHHH! I feel a spiritual application coming on!

I like it because the kids stop waking me up in the morning because of the sun! They wake and tire with the sun. They always have. We created this clock. If our clock ran with God's sun, and we rose and woke with the kids, we would all be better off! Thats just my opinion.

It rose at just the right time.

The problem I have with the sun up longer is that I'm prone to stay up later meaning less sleep. Less sleep means a grumpier me which causes me to receive a certain look from my wife at times that doesn't elicit warm fuzzies. It's a vicious cycle.

I'm totally with you on that one, Jeff.

I would be anti-daylight savings time. Originally, it was put in place for farmers to get the most out of the day. Now, they still go after dark because they have lights and everything!

If we no longer have that reasoning behind it, then I think it should just be abolished. It's just something of a routine or tradition that has gone way beyond its time.

As Cassey so aptly put it, 24 hours is 24 hours -and until I've had a good dose of caffeine in my sytem and good dose of Tobymac playing, I'm not awake enough to notice whether or not it's light or dark outside.

Rick, I have to question your time management - using the extra daylight to mow the yard or play golf? However, I would concur that playing golf and mowing the yard are equivalent chores. While I generally like daylight savings time, I dislike the change as it means I have to get up at an unhappy hour to get a good parking spot at the gun show so I can load out quickly in order to get back to Decatur in time for evening services.

I hate daylight savings time. I say "Don't mess with Mother Nature!" Dear Hubby says, "Don't say Mother Nature. Say God instead of Mother Natur."

I like the sun being out longer, you feel like you can get more accomplished that way. I don't like the missed hour of sleep and the best part about the fall time wise is the falling back an hour! That's my favorite night of the year! One more our of sleep!
