Beautiful Animals

Beverly and I went to Roger and Judy Armstrong's last night for supper. Because Beverly will be traveling to Kenya in March, they wanted to share with us some of what they had seen on their trip last year. It was incredible!

As I watched the many animals on their video, I was reminded once again how magnificent God is. The leopards, lions and cheetahs are so perfectly camauflaged that they fade into their surroundings. Absolutely awesome. Of course, there is the giraffe and the elephant -- that remind us that God has a sense of humor. And the jackal: It looks like it was made with left-over parts.

Several others were there last night, and I threw out that of all the animals on this planet, the Orca (Killer Whale) would make my top 5 most beautiful animals (Of course, Molly would make my list, too). Roger voted for the leopard.

What do you think? How about sharing your top choices. Of course, we know that Randy's is the prairie dog:)

Mine is a dolphin. I have always thought they were so beautiful and graceful! When I am reincarnated, I hope to come back as one:)

Love the blog. For me its got to be a manta ray. Just something about the way they "fly" through the water. Not sure if you've ever been scuba diving, but talk about a wake up call to God's magnificence. (And for the most part- it's untouched by man)

Isn't God's creation amazing! I especially love it when our Father throws curveballs at us. It's as if He is saying, "So you got that figured out do you? Okay, figure this one out."

So, to answer the question, I guess my favorite animals are those that don't make sense. Animals like the platypus - an egg laying mammal (also a marsupial). Or rattlesnakes - a reptile that doesn't lay eggs. Or seahorses - where the males give birth to the offspring.

Can you hear God saying, "Gotcha!"

I would commend the most beautiful - the pheasant, the most graceful - the white tail, the most exciting to hunt - the Rio Grande turkey, and the most comforting - Linda's two lap dogs but rats that live in the ground wouldn't make the list.

It has to be one of God's most magnificent beasts of burden...the horse. If you have ever seen a horse like Secretariat run, or a great horse work a cow...these are some of the most beautiful animals on earth.
